About Field and Fiber

Hello, I’m Amelia, the maker, natural dyer, and curator behind Field and Fiber.

I have always felt most at home when I am making something with my hands. Sewing and quilting give me a place to slow down, pay attention, and create with intention. Natural dyeing deepened that connection, bringing together my love of cloth and color with the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world. I grow many of the plants I use as natural dyes, tending them from seed to harvest before allowing their colors to find a new life in cloth.

Field and Fiber grew from a desire to share that way of making. From my home in Alabama, I thoughtfully select fabrics with beautiful texture, quiet color, and a timeless quality. Alongside these collections, I create naturally dyed cloth, hand-quilted pieces, and small-batch workroom editions meant to be used, loved, and kept.

I believe the materials we choose shape both the experience of making and the life of the finished piece. I am drawn to cloth that feels good in the hand, colors that settle gently into a home, and designs that leave room for the maker’s own story. Nothing here is chosen simply to follow a trend. Each fabric and handmade piece is selected or created with an eye toward usefulness, beauty, and longevity.

Field and Fiber is an invitation to make a little more slowly, to notice the texture of the cloth, the rhythm of the stitches, and the pleasure of creating something by hand.
